Heater, a/c motor has stopped working.
Hello Honda Tech!
The fan motor for my heater, air conditioner has stopped working. I am trying to figure out if it is 1). the ****/switch on the dashboard; or 2). the motor.
It has been working sporadically for about the past one month. Sometimes the motor would run. Other times it would not run. Yesterday, though, it finally stopped working.
The **** switch on the dashboard has five positions:
0 - off
1 - first speed
2 - second speed
3 - third speed
4 - fourth and top speed (this one worked only part of the time)
While the heater/ac motor was still working the top high speed (position 4) on the **** switch only worked part of the time. I could turn it from position 3 to position 4 and the motor speed would stay on position 3. I could jiggle the **** and it would sometimes go to the top 4 speed level.
I would appreciate any help or information.
Thanks.

Could be a combination of things. First i would ask. What model are we speaking about? Accords have had numerous changes.
1. Fan Motors do fail often, usually a simple fix.
2. Cables for fan selector speed wear out.
Have yiu tried taking the fan motor out. Its only a few screws, and unplug it. Mine was pretty gummed up, i replaced it with a generic brand. Lasted a year. Then Put a Honda Fan &Motor and coming up on 2 years. Its quiet and works well.

Rival12;
Thanks for responding to my question.
My car is a 2000 Accord LX. Yesterday evening I was sitting at a red light and the motor suddenly started working (without me touching the speed selector ****). I don't think it's the cable for the fan selector speed.
I've not tried removing the fan motor. Is there a diagram somewhere on this forum that shows how to remove the fan?

You can remove the plug from the motor, and hook you VOM up to it. Drive around, and watch it, while adjusting the speed selector. See if it shows 12v or what does it do. This might help see if it is a motor or a controls issue.
