I can use some help
I can use help see ive been parting together an si swap. So far I've got the dizzy. Harness.head.trans. IM. And I picked the block with internals but without the main bearing girdle. For 20$. I found it for 50$ shipped but that's the price of a Z6 short block at the junk yard. Which should I buy?
Hard to say because condition is everything when it comes to junkyard parts. So here's what you need to consider:
Blocks and girdles are machined together so each one is a matched set. That doesn't mean all hope is lost for the A6 block. You will need to find a compatible girdle and have a machining process called an "align bore" performed. It basically cuts a new hole for the crankshaft. Be warned this is not an easy task nor is it cheap.
What you really need to consider is your end goal. If you just want a 1.6 get the Z6 block and call it a day. If you are concerned with having to visit the referee it might be worth it to get the A6. You just need to consider what your concerns are and what your real end goal is. You've been posting a lot lately and I can tell you don't have a plan yet.

i ask because chances of finding a Z6 block in better shape then an A6 are far greater. if it was owned by the right person. like i said i have the A6 block with internals and you said yourself. that you would have used the A6 pistons if you had had them. instead of milling the head. in your A6 Z6 write up. the align bore process is expensive ive learned and like i said i have found here threw HT an A6 girdle. my question now is will i have to get this "new/from another" A6 girdle align bored? if so ill go with the Z6 but it would be nice to have D16A6 stamped on the block if ever i see a referee. like you said.
i have a plan to go full A6. due to my inexperience my plan may not be as clear as yours would be but i assure you i am continuously researching and asking questions. thanks you for helping.

There's a whole lot I can say about your responses but I'll just take this as a threat and stay off your threads from here on out. Good luck with your future endeavors.
PS
You have way too many periods in your response up there.

Yes you will. There is a reason why those things are machined (bored) together.
Silver lining of having it done is that you will be able to use generic brand bearings (King/Clevite or single size honda) without worrying too much about your clearances.
Did you assess the block itself yet? Maybe align bore is just a tip of an iceberg? Did you check for cylinders for scoring, taper, out of round? Is the block surface level? If you haven't then you are getting ahead of yourself. If either one of those things needs to be addressed - the cost of machine work will increase substantially. And do not forget new seals, rings and bearings.
Any decent machine shop will give you a solid estimate, it may even cut you a deal for having multiple things done at once. It maybe worth your while to talk to the shop people.
