I have an 03 RSX type S and at 3K RPMs it makes a weird buzzing noise. Cant tell if its coming from exhaust or something else. Anyone ever heard of this issue or have any ideas? Thanks.

I have a built and boosted DC5... It makes noises from everywhere... racecar

 

Its a consistant noise between 3k-4k rpms. I wasn't looking for someone to pinpoint the question just more or less any ideas of what it could be to start trouble shooting. Or if anyone had heard of a similar issue.

 

Mine did to but I have 02 nd I noticed it was just my tranny cuz of the mods I put in it the tranny was being pushed to its limit nd eventually had to get it replaced now idk if we had same problem but it did start at first at 3 to 4 rpms I think I just needed a better clutch but since I had the extra tranny I didn't really mind. So I would start with the tranny if I was you.

 

If it's a high pitch screechy type of noise, the half shaft heat shield would be the likely culprit.

 

Thats what I was thinking. Did you have a similar issue?

I don't think its anything involving the tranny. I was thinking it had to be exhaust.

 

Mine would start at about 2800 RPM and stop around 3200 if I remember correctly.
Very RPM specific. I 'repaired' it a few years ago by bending it slightly. So far so good.

 

Exactly when mine does it too. I will get under and take a look thanks man.

 

+1 on the heat shield. Try bending it a bit and see if it still rattles.
