plz help.. code p1382 and p1381
hi guys,
My civic si 00 is hesitating between rpm 2k and 3k.
Check engine light was on and the codes i got are p1382 and p1381
I have searched so long for the part number for the crankshaft positioning sensor with no result!
A friend of mine said that the CMP sensor is inside the distributor and cannot be replaced alone and that i should get a new dist.
thanks for ur help.
If possible, please advise the oem part number of the sensor.

No you absolutely do not need to change the distributor.
The part you're looking for is:
Drum Roll..........
37500-P72-A01 SENSOR ASSY., CRANK-TDC
But I'd probably troubleshoot a little more before I start throwing parts at it. Not to mention, it's a $150 sensor and a bugger to change. If I recall correctly it's about a 3 hour job.

Hi again,
As we found that the CYP sensor is not functioning anymore, I have found a used sensor from OBD1 distributor.
Shall i buy this sensor or it will not work with my OBD2 distributor?

Don't randomly replace parts. Test the CYP sensor wires between the ECU and distributor for a short or open. Also resistance test the CYP sensor and test it for a short.

I also have the dreaded P1381 code. Checked resistance and it is within spec at 486. Checked for short to ground and one wire does show continuity to ground. I was advised to replace the distributor. But if I unplug the distributor from the wiring loom, the short goes away on the distributor side, while I still get it on the loom side. Doesn't sound like replacing the distributor is going to solve the problem. My thought process is disconnect at the ECU, find the offending wire and test there with the distributer unplugged. If no short, then I'm looking at an ECU issue.
There seems to be a lot of information on this code. But I'm not sure it's all that reliable.
