Default Turning off the MIL

Hi,
I just changed a coil pack in my 2005 Accord Tourer and the MIL light is still on. Is there an easy way to turn the thing off? I have seen a few things about removing a fuse or disconnecting the battery but none appear to relate specifically to an Accord.
All help gratefully received!
Phil

Are you talking about the Check Engine light, or the Maintenance Required light? If the Check Engine light is on, you need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes. If it's the maintenance light, do the required maintenance, then reset the light. To reset the maintenance light, get in the car, make sure everything is turned off (headlights etc.) Hold the trip miles button down, with your left hand, and turn the key to position II (no start). Hold the button down, till the light goes out. The check engine light might go off, if you disconnect the battery, but if the problem that made the light come on is still there, it will come back. If you disconnect the battery, I hope you have the radio code.

Thanks. My original problem was diagnosed by a mechanic after I the Maintenance Indicator Lamp appear on the dashboard. Is this the same as a Check Engine light?
I have (hopefully!) fixed the problem on the advice of a mechanic who looked at the car. So I may go for the battery option. Where do i find the code for the battery? I have all the books that came with the car when I purchased it.

There are 2 different lights. The Check Engine light is on the left side, and it means the computer has detected a problem, and a trouble code stored in the computer memory. The Maintenance Required light is on the right side of the gauge cluster, and it will start coming on at a certain mileage interval (7,500 maybe). This light is only a reminder to do periodic maintenance on your car. If you have the owner's manual, it will explain what the two lights mean, and how to reset the maintenance light. The check engine light (light on the left that looks like an engine) can only be turned off by disconnecting the battery. If the problem detected by the computer is not fixed, the light will come back on. If you do disconnect the battery, to turn the light off, the anti-theft radio will not come back on, unless you enter the correct code number. The number should be on a credit card size plastic card. Read your owner's manual for more details on both lights.

Honda refers to MIL as the Malfunction Indicator Lamp, which essentially is the Check Engine Light. In addition, your generation Accord stores various specific data in non-volatile memory even if there is no electrical power such as when the battery negative terminal or No. 8 FI ECU (ECM/PCM) (15A) fuse are disconnected. Generally, HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) or a generic scan tool can be used to clear and erase stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Generally, pulling the battery negative battery cable or FI ECU fuse will not clear stored codes.

Note: Since your car is a Tourer, it sounds like you are located in a different country; so, the FI ECU fuse may be numbered differently.

You need to determined which indicator lamp is lit. Also, what did the mechanic state as the original problem?
