Just add a few more exclamation marks in your non-tech post.

Your parents just got you a car for Christmas and now you want to ruin it with a CHEAP turbo kit.
91slammedcivic "got a new car" thread
Please give the car keys back to your parents because you clearly don't know what you are doing.
Seriously... you don't have a clue - not even trying to be mean. It's just fact.

I know. And with every forum there are rules, both formal and informal. You can read the formal rules at your convenience but informally, no one likes to spoon feed which is why "I'm gonna git you sucka" girl is trembling with fear.

who really is the ******* here? Think about it, you just joined, ask the most basic stupid question you could. Did you even bother searching? are you a damn lib and want everything handed to you? Obama baby? and then when one person says your lazy, you get bent outta shape.
well learn to do a search. ask better questions such as " I have searched and abc and xxx turbo kits are what I want go with. what is better?" you will get more answers and people might want to help.
until then I suggest to STFU and do some reading

The forum has spoken.

And since you wanted a turbo kit with a cheap price, this might interest you

there are a lot of aftermarket turbo kits for these cars now. most ebay units will work just fine. i dont really know the long term of them but for less than $2k includes shipping for a complete setup you really cant complain. this price should include a decent boost gauge and EM too.
the kit should have:
fmic
turbo
manifold
all piping
em
hoses
clamps
lines
ewg

bla bla etc
(in case i forgot something)

just find one that fits and go with it. youll only need to worry about missing parts from when they ship it or fitment issues. in this price range, dont worry about branding as they are so generic it wont matter.

(Between you and I, it wasn't meant to be a serious recommendation, but if the OP wants to ruin his car with cheap parts due to budget constraints and ignorance, so be it)

I was actually really tempted to link something off ebay myself but I held back.

Maybe I'm just getting soft in my old age, but maybe we could cut the kid some slack and instead of giving sarcastic answers we, as a community, could recommend to him WHY cheap parts are not the way to go? Help him understand why learning the basics and working your way up to a turbo kit is a much better option that buying eBay crap and ruining a good engine. Welcome a new member and explain to him why his post is going to rub people the wrong way (myself included when I first read it).

Besides, what do we care what he buys, really... We can give all this advice in the world but in the end it's his money and if he still wants a turbo kit he will get it. And when he blows up his D15, then he will likely be upgrading with an engine swap... And then when that blows up because of this reason or that, he will figure it out... I mean, isn't that how a lot of us got started?

When I started getting into cars (23+ years ago) all I wanted a good looking car that had a window-rattling stereo that chicks wanted to be seen in. I wanted under-lighting, pearl paint and all that crap. I didn't care. That's likely all he's thinking about: going fast, impressing his girl, and the sound of the BOV. If I were still 16/17 that's all I'd be focused on.

He's excited, as we all were when we got our first car, and he wants to start modding it. No shame in any of that. And ya, his post came off as kinda lazy because he didn't state that he did any searching on his own, but he's likely only 16/17 and has 3 posts on here. When I was 16/17 I was pretty obnoxious and I didn't read (BBS at the time) forum rules either, formal or otherwise.

I don't know, like I said, maybe I'm just getting soft.

OP, what do you know about cars? Do you know how to change brakes, suspension, etc? I think we are all under the assumption right now that you are the beginning of your learning experience. If so, I would recommend totally against trying to boost your car. Start small and work your way up. I am sure there is a Community College after school class that teaches Mechanics for relatively cheap, sign up and attend classes. Learn the basics of breaks and suspension. Then attempt to something more practical in your price range. An engine rebuild with a Vtec head would give you more power and teach you plenty.
