Default Starter or alternator?

This happened to me last winter too. Whenever it's too cold out, my car won't start on it's own.

Sometimes I'll turn the key and I'll get a constant "click click click " noise. Or I'll turn the key and I get a couple of dim lights on my dashboard, with no clicking.

And sometimes, if I shake my car or the battery, and try again, it'll work.. O.o?

But sometimes shaking the car doesn't always solve the problem and I need to get it jumpstarted.

Autozone said the battery was fine and it's in good shape. Alternator seemed fine too. So idk exactly what to do here, should I just assume it's the alternator?

Thanks in advance for the help

I drive an ep3 btw

Oh, and the ground cable for the battery looks like it's in bad shape. Could this be the cause of the problem?

I would definitely start with the poor ground cable. The dim lights and click seem like a battery to me. But try this next time, if you turn your headlights on do they dim real bad while trying to crank over? If so it's a power issue, if not it's a starter. But sounds like battery.

Yes, you were right, I replaced the ground cable and it did nothing. Alternator tested fine too. I just went and bought a new battery and it started up right away.

Thanks for the help.
