Default H22a Oil Filter

What kind of filter should be put on my H22A? i got my oil changed and I think they just put a normal Civic filter on it which made my cars oil pressure spike (im guessing). Either way, looking to buy filters in bulk for future changes. Help?

I used the same filter as the one for my d15b7 (Bought a case)
are you sure the oil pressure spike wasnt caused my oil change not being done in a long time
higher viscus oil ( I believe ) meaning fresh/thicker oil builds pressure or additives. it's not a bad thing. Aslong as your not leaking I doubt our h22s are capable of blowing any filter out so you shouldn't need anything special.

They usually have a book at parts store listing all the models compatible with "X model filter" just get the proper once according to the manufacturer. And how do you know your oil pressure spiked what makes you think that if you don't have a proper gauge hooked up ?.

Filters for H22s and D series are the same. Honda uses the PLM-A01 filter for everything except the S2000, NSX(?), and Insight.

You can substitute a genuine Honda brand (PCX) S2000 filter if you want better filtration.

Your oil pressure most likely went up because they over filled it...or because the oil is thicker than what you had before. Also, since all H22s on earth burn oil, you probably had very little left at the end of your 5k mile interval....unless you've been topping it off.

If you want one of the best standard oil filters on the Market I'd suggest Napa Gold. They are not cheap but are made by Wix and Wix makes some of the best oil filters out there. Don't do the Napa regular it has to be Gold to get the top notch oil filter.

Whatever you do, stay away from the FRAM orange can of death.

I enjoy the best construction and extra filtration of Napa Golds for my D15B7 motor. This filter can go 10,000 Kilometers safely between changes even though I only run 7500 myself.

They cost me 11 dollars a pop here in BC Canada at my local Napa Store.

Ive been told by a good friend and a guy who has owned a h22 for 20 years.

WIX is the only way to go. And I just got 2 today. one to use, and one to cut open. they are 10x better than fram and OEM honda.

I use the oversized Wix filter on my track car. IIRC, the PN is 51344 whereas the OEM replacement is 51334.

Honda doesnt make filters, they have their name on them, also if you try to get the really good JDM filters, there is a big difference, the USDM part number will be substituted, they only get the good stuff over in Japan.

Unless you want to pay ridiculous amounts for legit JDM Honda filters, then a top of the line filter from your average auto parts store will suffice.

actually they arent, there are different filters for the domestic market and the japanese market, the S2000 guys found this out years ago, there have been many filter threads where they have been cut apart and shown to be different, I'm not saying to buy one of them, Wix is fine, but there is a big difference

if you order the JDM ones from Honda the part numbers are substituted for the USDM ones, no one is saying they are worth buying, I put wix on everything I own, but there is a difference.

I dont know if they have changed it in the past few years, but the OEM filters sold here were made by fram at one point, or technically allied signal since they make fram, the filters put on these cars in Japan were Hamp filters
