Default Mugen lip and OEM sills.

Need some help please.

I'm looking for the following for my 98 JDM spec ITR:

- replica oem optional side sills. (original is too expensive)
- 2 piece rear bumper aprons to match.
- Mugen front lip.

I need to make contact with a supplier that sells these at
a reasonable price, but it needs to be of a high quality and
Oem fit.

The supplier obviously needs to be reliable and prepared to
ship to South Africa.

Any ideas?

Based on my research, it seems there are 2 types of these
replica optional sills. One is essentially a cover that fits over
the existing oem sill, and the other, a complete replacement,
fitting in pretty much the same way as oem, correct?

mugen makes a complete front bumper for the JDM 98 spec ITR. Those run $1000 usd

mugen has side skirts that bolt to the stock location and there are replica ones that bolt to the stock location as well.

Not looking for a complete bumper. That would be FAR too expensive to ship to South Africa irrespective.

I'm just looking for a good quality poly or abs lip.

In terms of the skirts and 2 piece rear valance, I'm looking for, as close to as possible, the optional oem look and fit, with all the hardware. No major chopping, cutting or drilling into the pieces, and most definitely not to the car.

And before I'm asked the inevitable, no, I cannot afford the optional oem originals, or rather the added cost of the shipping and customs that doubles the price.

But I am speaking with Ben from Importparts currently, so let's hope he can assist.

To my knowledge, Mugen didn't make just the lip spoiler for the JDM spec front bumper. With that said, you can search e-bay for aftermarket lips for your JDM spec front bumper.

Sorry, I'm being an idiot here. I mean Mugen 'style' front lip.

http://www.baysonr.com/94_01_Acura_I...400-mu-jdm.htm

Does anybody have a front pic of a jdm 98 spec. I honestly don't know the difference between the 96 and 98 oem lips, having never seen either in the flesh.

I'm assuming this 'Mugen' looks better, and protrudes forward a little further?

can i suggest a replica cf spoon lip if you're going to go with replica's? the spoon lip for the jdm front was actually made for it vs. a mugen replica which was made for a 99-00 civic and has been bastardize to look like poo on other cars due to poor fittment.

as far as oem sides/rears, it's a hit or miss as most are fiberglass and again, looks like poo as they're usually poor fittment.

check ebay for either of these items.

Am I correct in saying, based on my research, that the JDM 96 and 98 lips are exactly the same? The only front end difference being the headlights?

If this is true, then there's a possibility that there's a front cut at a local engine importer. Unfortunately it's a 96 which is perfectly fine if the lips are exactly the same, but it doesn't solve my headlight dilemma.

In terms of skirts and rear valances, I won't touch fiberglass. It must be either abs or poly, and must fit in a very similar manner to oem.

It's really easy to be judgmental when you're not in the same position.

Let me put this into perspective: I was quoted approximately $450 for a lip, skirts, valance (all abs reps) and front and rear camber kits. Not a bad price, but factor into the the equation the additional $450+ for shipping and minimum $200 for customs....are you getting the picture?

Now imagine spending $450 for the OEM skirts alone. I'd have to pay separate shipping and customs for each item, because each item will be purchased from a separate ebay seller. It'll cost a fortune.

So, yes, if I lived in the US, I'd close my eyes and buy oem, but I can't justify spending that exorbitant amount on just these few items, at an exchange rate of 11 Rands to 1 Dollar. And believe me, $1 buys far more than R11.

thats completely understandable that you dont want to pay the price but realize there is a reason for the price difference you pay the extra money for oem fit you pay the money for high quality there is no such thing as cheap and high quality that's not how it works thats why oem is so much more expensive

Agreed 100%. If I could get it at the same price you could, there wouldn't be a moments hesitation. It's not so much an I don't want to, more of an I can't afford to really.

I've got a pretty decent arsenal of parts to fit, especially performance where you can't skip, the likes of Teins with EDFC. ATI, Neptune, ID, AEM, etc.

I have to compromise on what's technically a non essential, provided it looks the part, to be able to achieve my goals.

You're asking for help finding something that's almost impossible. You can have OEM quality and fitment at OEM higher prices or Replica quality and fitment at a much cheaper price. You can't have the best of both worlds.

If you've already spent good money for performance parts on a legit RHD ITR why can't you hold off and save enough to get the legit parts and pay the associated costs for shipping and import? In the end you'll have a better looking car and less headaches from potential quality/fitment issues. In my opinion a clean stock body ITR (especially JDM front) looks way better than a half assed job using replica parts.

Just my .02

GL on ur build

But that's the point. I'm on this end of the world looking at pics of the reps. I'm not aware that what I'm looking for doesn't exist.

So if the general consensus is that a replica optional oem skirt, that fits with relative ease, and looks oem once correctly fitted, doesn't exist, then so be it. That's the info I need.

I must say that it's a surprise to me though.
