Default New to the site....

Hey guys....I've been an owner of a tricked out Olds Alero, and something happened and now I got to get a new car. I want to get a honda cause their actually affordable, and I was looking at the 88-91 or more CRX Si or the Hatchback Si for around 1500 or less. Which do you guys prefer? Where can i get one, i can't find one anywhere! I wanna make this biatch fast, so I'd like to squeeze a type r in it or something, i have no clue about honda's or their engines, so enlighten me, please, lol. For that price, the orginal motor should be about shot, so I'll save up and put a new engine in it, but I need to know the fastest model, not worrying about price....thanks guys, and I look forward to talking with you all.

Using the search function will help you get up to speed on the h&a scene. But I'll give you a heads up. 4g civics and 2g crxs are prone to rust. Before you buy one go over it thoroughly. If you are looking to swap motors look into a b series swap. The search feature will provide you with plenty of info...more than I can type in this post. I would try to stay away from the dx models if you aren't really thrilled about working with the wiring. You might want to try to find an hf model since they are the lightest and will be really quick due to the lightweight. However, the Si models have more "comfort" amenities than the lower models and therefore have a higher wieght.
Overall I would go with an Si since they are the easiest to do a swap into and have the most features. An Si for less than 1500 will most likely have problems so be on the lookout. Anyways enough of my rambling. Good Luck finding a car.

While I like The SI's if your dropping in a different motor look into a HF. it will be lighter thus quicker. There are alot of knowledgable people here but please try to search for an answer for a question you may have before posting it. Alot of members just want to start a flame war with newbie's or they don't want to answer the same question for the millionth time. Weclome to the site.

How much weight difference are we talking here b/t the hf and the si? From what I see the si is easier to get parts for, so I may do it, I just want it fast, so I may go witht he hf if there's a big difference, ET wise. Will the new k20 type r motor fit? lol i tried searching but couldn't find ****, so, i'll ask. Who prefers what? stock motor with high compression, and go all motor, or take a smaller compression engine and throw a turbo on it? i want the one i can squeeze the most hp out of. all iknow, is the type r motor is the fastest, if it's not, let me know! i really appricate it guys.

DEFINE tricked-out Oldsmobile Alero
you may not be worthy of owning such a fine automobile such as the EF civic/crx

If you're going to be a 'ricer', you might as well leave Honda-Tech because at Honda-Tech, 'rice' gets burned. Not a pure bred ricer? You think just because you will own a Honda, then you will be a true ricer? YOU choose to be 'rice' or a stunna. It doesn't matter what car you've got.

Hey, on choosing the EF. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Don't worry about the 'rice' comment. Everyone gets their necks up about it. What's nice to someone is rice to someone else, and that goes for both the show and go scenes. However, on this site most people are concerned with go, myself included.

You can't really ask someone what to do to your car. That's got to be something that you decide. What you can do is look around and see what people have done to their cars... and see what kinds of results they get. IMO, waiting a bit before starting to modify - and modifying slowly - is the key to getting a result that defines your style.

the hf is a lot lighter...the si is better for brakes, hubs for swapping...but the hf is a lot lighter where you would notice a difference...everyone thinks just do a type r...but realistically not many people can afford it...so what i would do is...buy a 88 hf with no motor for less then 1000 then but a b16 in it and turbo it...and build it for the turbo and do whatever else you wanna do with it...just my .02 welcome to the board

Yeah welcome to H-T. I meant by my comment that because you had an Olds Alero you said you were not a true ricer but now that youre getting a honda you can be a 'real' ricer. Ohh well, .

Welcome

yea you sorta made a mistake with the rice comment, like the guy said, owning an asian car doesnt make us ricers....as a matter of fact...we would prefer not to be ricers...most h-t users are into a more sleek, clean, looking car with some speed.

and on your buy....

dont worry buying a car that is fast...its no use...buy a car that you think you will be most handy with, then buy a motor that is fast...id go for a b18c1, c5, the R motor, is probably a bit too expensive, and we dont want to empty the pockets so soon...if i were in your shoes, i'd go buy my car, fix it up to drivable, throw some suspension on it, drop the b18 in, then do your normal bolt ons, intake, headers, and exhaust...then just go from there...
