Default can I swap blocks?

I gotta a b2 in the car and picked up a a6 head and trans this week. Just wondering if I could use a relatively "young" d16 block from the junk yard and mat the a6 head and trans to it.

^That's from the FAQ by the way.

And simply put, you can interchange most heads/blocks/transmissions/manifolds with relative ease between all 88-00 D-Series SOHC engines.

No worries. Using a Y7/8 block should be pretty close to that write up.

In that thread witch of the two options do prefer or would have preferred. Using the pm6 or shaving the head?

My choice was circumstantial. Ideally it would've been nice to use the correct pistons because that would yield the correct compression and nothing permanent would've been done (you can't unshave the head). Of course using new pistons leads to more work so keep that in mind.
