'95 Accord Reverse Wire
Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to cars so sorry if I get some terminology wrong. I just ordered a new headunit with a screen that I intend to use for a backup camera. While looking at the wiring harness, I realized that it has a reverse sensor wire. I know that I can take the positive lead from one of the reverse bulbs and run it back to the headunit, but I honestly don't want to do all that if I can achieve the same result easily. Some forums have stated that you can get this reverse wire from the gear selector or something like that. Any input would be greatly appreciated. On a slightly related note, I also wanted to put in footwell LEDs but after inspecting all the wires in the kick panel, I have no idea which go to the lights on the door. Is there a common color coding to these?
Thanks,
Aneel

Yea, I'd go from the shifter to the unit. Power when in R should be the GRN/BLK wire on the selector, verify with a volt meter.
For the door lights, well they work a bit different. Ground is applied when the door opens via the door jam switch to the body. So you would need to tap into the ground wire from each door to your added lights.

Thank You! I checked it with a volt meter and it seems that my reverse wire is green with a white stripe. When I shift into Reverse, this line gets grounded and all other lines go to 12v. Am I able to still connect this to the headunit? I'm assuming the headunit is expecting 12v on its reverse sense wire when I shift into reverse.
