Default Evo manifold 1.5sch10 - ports

Hi there! i will fabricate some evo stock replacement manifolds for some local evos, i was wondering if you use 1.5 sch10 how do you match with exhaust ports of the flange exactly? i know there are machined cnc flanges ported for fits sch10 1.5" but what about with a laser cut flat exhaust flange? there is a big differente to match with port..i tried to find a reducer 1.75 to 1.5" here with not luck. tried to find 1 3/4 sch10 , not luck, just 1.5" and 2" sch10 so 2" will be too big pipe.. i was thinking in to welding it and after that porting for get better surface, heat it a bit and try to expand a bit too..any other ideas? i can't find 1.625" neither..

you can see the clearance..

Thanks in advance!

I've used a ton of their flanges and love them! Just built a Evo9 mani with 1.5" schedule 10 and their flange.

I'm with McRussellPants, the flange is the problem here. They have gorgeous flanges on the site listed that won't break your wallet.

If you dont want to change flanges, just make some adaptors.

Basically, cut some small lengths of 1.5" pipe.
Flare them out in a press on a die.
Once flared out, squash the sides until the match the flange.

The pic below should explain the above abit better.

Great! i thought on that because that's what i do for fabricate all motor headers but since i never had to do for turbo manifolds that's why i asked. great info! Thank you a lot!

about turbo flanges, yes, i know that website, not sure about shipping cost to Europe but i'd prefer a stainless flange than machined steel flange :/ , neved used a steel flange, always stainless, i dont know about how fast would rust that flange, i know they have some flanges in ss but that cost a lot to me . i dont means it doesnt worths because it does!

Stainless head flanges are a bad idea IMO. I tried that in 2004 and had nothing but warping issues. The flange would never stay flat even on the motor. The heat cycles cause it to warp.

Turbo flanges offers stainless, you just have to call and specify. Obv a bit more expensive.

Lol, well im not ballin that hard. I just got mine in 304. That's kinda gay they turned you away though. I know that stuff is harder on tooling, but i didnt think to a point where they wouldnt do it. Maybe its their material supplier.

Walteronny- lets see some pics of the die!

well, i had some free times to test it, just heat the tip then expanded, that was easier even when i expand 1.5mm thick tube cold lol! i have to expand even i bit less than i did.

smooth transition!

polishing..

also i was trying to improve finish surface on aluminium..

put a bit of a dimple on the pipe to leave clearance for the nut to hold the flange on, otherwise that's about as good as your going to get.

is that flange oversized, or are EVO ports really that large and close to the edge of the flange as what you have cut?

yeah , i will did, ive been expanding only 16g tube, but never schedule pipe, after this it's the same, i will post somepictures when i begin to weld

EVO ports are really big, anyway i designed it a bit larger in the case any customer want to port engine head. normally i design based on OEM gaskets..
