I have the K&N, but I don't notice any difference from stock. If I continue to use and clean the K&N long enough, I'll save money from buying an Honda OEM replacement filter every 30K miles or when you see fit that your air filter needs replacing. Keywords being "long enough". lol

I've ran the OEM, K&N and Spoon in the stock box and current run the Comptech icebox. The icebox is the only one that will show any "gains" though.

So what is the real difference or the icebox vs oem???
I mean both desing is similar.. plastic box, pipe to the trotle body and lower pipe who take cold air...

Not really the icebox takes in forced air similar to a cold air system. OEM used a resonator that doesn't not aid in any performance, rather just as a noise dampener.

No air is "forced" into the system with any intake, be it an Icebox, OEM, Mugen, AEM CAI, etc.

That said, the OEM ITR airbox is a "cold air" intake by definition. The only advantages some aftermarket intakes offer is smoother/better airflow, better "tuning" of the resonance, etc.

Do a search as I remember someone testing "drop in" filters a while back on an otherwise stock ITR. Not sure there was anything to show for it, though.

Hehe yeah no forced air in naturally aspirated motors, wrong term. I like the OEM intake box with the resonator removed. Saves a pound or two and I like the whistle. All filters are gonna do the same thing, just nice the aftermarket ones are reusable. Go with kn or ct and call it a day.

Mugen > Comptech/CT Engineering > OEM modified

Search for used setups or modify the OEM one. There was a write up before on adding the tube just like the Comptech style to the OEM box.

You can spend your money on a fancy air filter...but you're not going to notice a difference in HP.

Again, do a search in this forum as we've already covered this many times.

If you are sticking with the OEM airbox then just get an OEM filter. The Spoon or K&N aren't going to net any "gains". You can also remove the lower resonator, as others have mentioned, and fab up a velocity stack tube to emulate the Icebox design.

^ is there a write up some where on how to rig up the snorkel? I've heard of people doing this but never actually seen one.

I have a brand new Spoon filter that I will run again but only because I'm a Spoon *****

@purplepassiongsr: I can't remember if there was a write-up on it but A&J Racing did it years ago and I saw theirs. Basically, buy a velocity stack (Blox, etc) and get some PVC piping or similar and route it the same way the Icebox is.
