Should cost no more than $500 at a private shop. Find a reputable one and tell the dealership to go **** themselves.

Oh, good question. If its the head gasket, then $800 is a better price.

I'm not sure if i can do it myself. It's a lot of work. Right now i'm just driving my EF civic until it's fix. I have 2 jobs, my wife works full time & needs me to drop her off a collage 3 night a week. I don't have time to do it my self. The car died on the freeway this past weekend and has been at HONDA ever since. I think i might have to fork over the money but i'll try to call around different shops.
DAMN HONDA.... OVER PRICED ******.

^^^^^^

Right with Chiovnidca. Don't get all pissy about the price. Honda shops have to pay the best technicians top dollar in order to retain them and maintain the quality of services performed, this comes off of your bill along with the price of parts and the HUGE overhead the dealers have.

I also work at honda.

The dealership is giving you the REEEMER!
You might as well buy a new engine for that price.

hey guys I'm not talking about the actuall tech guys as being a *****. I'm just venting about the price. I'm sure many of us here on H-T have complained about the price on somthing whether it be on the cost of a new gasket or cost of labor. I have much respect to the tech guys and the schooling that they had to endure to be certifed HONDA Techncians.
Well my car is done as of this morning and i have to pick it up after work. I didn't ask for a total yet but i will keep you updated on how much i was SHAFTED... j/k..

This sounds about right. Get all the belts replaced, you'll only be paying for the parts. Hell, buy the parts online at hondaautomotiveparts.com and have the dealer put it on. I've done it before and it's a lot cheaper. Dont take it to a private mechanic. I've been to three and all three have majorly F'd up my car because not many know how to work on foreign cars properly and they use cheap *** parts. Pay the extra now, it will be cheaper in the long run.

One word of advice for the wheel bearings. If you dont absolutely need them, wait till a cv joint goes bad or till you need new rotors. For bearings you'll be paying big $$ to replace a fairly cheap part because it's all labor to get at it.

ok i just got a call from HONDA
1) the tech guy is done replacing the timing belt and water pump
2) but he says that the car is not running right/like it should.
3) honda wants to charge me more while the tech guy is looking over the motorWTF

***my question is
-what could possible be wrong with the car?
-what else could of broke(inside the motor) when my timing blet broke? (spun a bearing? piston rings, blow out a rod?)
-my car is a 1993 10th edition... which comes with a lx motor and auto tranny.
but i have a JDM ex motor in it that they don't know about.
---if they put a LX (timing belt & water pump & did timing) will it make my car run crappy? OR are the LX & EX timing belt & water pump & set timing the same?????? help me out.

Your timing belt broke?? That's not a minor detail. Probably bent valves or damaged piston heads.

I love interference motors. Dont' you? Like the man said, probably bent valves. Oh, and having the wrong timing is also bad considering it's probably detonating like crazy. Tell them soon before it's destroyed even more.

**** honda.......... waste of my good money.

-so they call me back after my car has been there for 4 days.
-tell me that the 3rd cylder is out and that they need to:
*take off aftermarket parts
*take off head
*clean and prep head to be sent out to a machine shop
*shipping charges to the shop
*have them clean and have all new valves and valve seals
*some minor porting
*$280 on some bull-***** head package.
*labor one putting it all back together. q
**NOT TO MENTION the current balance of $950 as of right now(timing belt and water pump, labor & towing)
*****............so long story short they think i should spend $2200 on my old F22. so i said "forget it"

I still have my orginal LX motor that blew a rod.

1) the head should still be good right?

2)If the 3rd clyinder is out is that an issue with the HEAD or the block?????

3) Could i just put my old head on my current motor? do you see any problems?

yup, you CLOWNED yourself you think they actually would telepathically/telemechanically ascertain that you will need parts for that specific motor and not the actual stock motor? Communication is key.
