Default How much for Timing belt and Water pump replacement?

How much would you expect to pay for a timing belt and water pump change everything included? My boss's canadian 94 civic special edition overheated and had to have it towed. Just asked him how much he paid and he said $500 for pump, belt, labor. Does it sound within normal price range? I only ask because I do these types of myself and never take my car to a mechanic.

I know it sounds a bit n00bish but I can't remember the last time I ever took my car to a mechanic and paid for labor. Thanks all!

Hmm... $500?

I would say that is about average for just WP/TB + labor.

I guess it depends on where you are and who you have work on it.

It does all depend on who you know though. For the 500 I would hope it is all OEM parts. I just purchased a TB/WP/HG/VCgasket and it cost me about 190 shipped.

You can order a Timing Belt Kit from Prostreetonline.com for $124.99 and do the work yourself and save $350!! That's where I got all my stuff from. Everything looked great and I haven't had any problems.

You just bumped a 7 year old thread to add absolutely nothing of value. You're one step away from making us all wish you would try to drive under a semi.
