clutch switch vs clutch safety switch
Well im trying to diagnose a problem with my cruise control. And I get no continuity from pink wire to ground on the harness. Pink wire is from clutch and its suppose to have continuity then no continuity when pedal is pressed. I took out the switch and tested it and its bad. Now this is my question. I took this out and the car still starts but the pedal has to be pushed in. So there must be 2 switches correct?
This is the "clutch switch"
This is the "clutch switch"
The clutch switch is the yellow, the cc is the black. If you need a new cc switch, I'll sell you mine that's just layin around. The car is not suppose to start unless the clutch is pressed, so you don't accidentally start it in gear.
on my '92 there are two switches, the easily visible accessible one is the cruise control interlock, it is mounted so that the plunger is fully depressed when clutch pedal is all the way out.
the clutch safely/clutch interlock is a PITA to get to, it is mounted on top of the clutch pedal bracket and depresses when the clutch pedal is completely compressed
you can bypass either of the switches by jumping the wires THIS IS NOT THE RECOMMENDED FIX AS BOTH OF THESE SWITCHES WERE INSTALLED FOR A REASON.
my clutch interlock went out a while back and as I don't feel like paying ~$30 for a replacement, (not to mention spending all that time upside down under the dash) i jumped the terminals on the connector with a piece of wire and two crimp-on spade terminals. I park my car in neutral with the handbrake set, unless im on an incline, and depressing the clutch is the first thing i do upon entering the car, as well as ensuring the trans is still in neutral.
