Anyone have complications with e85 and journal bearing turbos?
I've heard of a few people blowing seals after switching to e85 with jb turbos..I have recently switched to e85 and looking to buy an other turbo as a backup, trying to confirm if this can happen or not
I'm guessing people with catch cans tap to the back of the block letting the moist or watered down oil back In the block just contaminating the oil in the pan and not changing oil I use journal turbos and e85 and never had a problem but I only use the valve cover to the catch can and empty it every so often and change oil often
I'm assuming you had the same experience with precision JB turbos as I have. My 6262 was two seasons old and had maybe 500 street miles on it when it started smoking. Sent it back and they advised it was from "oil contamination". My oil never even gets past the color of honey in my car so I'm not sure how that would be the case.

That's a popular one they use, oil contamination. I've seen multiple issues with jb precisions on customer and friends cars. Personally I've used Borg Warner for the past couple of years and when I was on e98 my oil would look like the color of pudding and I've never had an issue with the engine or turbo.

I've never had a problem with my precision turbos on E85.
get a good oil, don't recirc your catch can back into your motor. change your oil more due to e85 brake down. your good.
i recirculate my oil and it looks new every time i drive it. i do change it alot, no problems with the turbo smoking or blowing seals.
Can any one else validate oil recirculating from catch can using e85 causing turbo failure, or is it common knowledge not to recirculate oil from catch can on e85 applications
U can use the two on the back of the motor if the motor is still in the car the far one can be a pain but there's a company that makes. Plug - -10an to the old "black box" hole that's what im am running now as drain back plus two for cover, never heard any trouble about this kind of set up till now.
