I need more head room in my 98 civic. I was told itr seats were a inch shorter is this correct? I would hate to spend money on them to find out I'm wrong.

 

the recaro seats do sit lower but most of it comes from what rail you use, they have low profile rails you can buy which are cheaper then the 700$ seats. I have them in my track car still I like them although will be switching out for something lighter soon they are rather heavy.

ebay or PLM mfg sells them afaik I can't remember off the top of my head.

 

I had 1st generation Dc2-R seats(same as siR Integra seats) on Ek rails and they sat very low in comparisson to standard Ek seats.

 

Awesome. If my car didn't have a sunroof I would be in good shape be I have to lean to the right because of it and the fact that I'm 6'2 in a 2 door

ebay search bar "low profile seat rails" then just add what ever car you have after like civic or integra...you get the idea.

 

You want decent seats look up cypher auto seats on eBay. They're legit and get some planted seat brackets. You don't need to add rails if you don't want to. That'll save you even more height.

 

I would highly recommend S2000 seats. Of course you'll need to swap seat pans and use your stock rails, however they do sit noticeably lower.

I would NOT use cheap "eBay" seat rails for a safety feature such as a seat.

 

del sol seats are the lowest if that interests you op imo they don't look good tho.

 

Time out, are we seriously recommending eBay garbage seat rails? #2 safety piece, right behind your seat belt. You do NOT want to cheap out. Spend good money on good hardware, and it might just save your life one day.

 

FFS just cause the term "ebay" is used does not mean it is a knock off brand someone is suggesting. I got my RS machine 83mm PR3's off "ebay" does this mean they're fake ?. no I'm not suggesting a knock off seat rail I'm saying find a legit brand of LP seat rails then head on over to ebay to look for a deal. I do it sure I got my Hondata s300 off there from a legit seller.

I drive a Del Sol and have to agree the factory upholstery is pretty ugly.

My solution was to re-upholster in black leather.

 

Thanks for the info everyone. I could care less about looks, function over form. If I can't fit in the car it doesn't matter what the seats look like. I'll start checking ebay and jys.

if i buy an authentic takata harness and an authentic recaro, sparco, bride, status seat on ebay that i might endanger my life if i install them in my car because those are fake and have bad clock spring?

if i buy an genuine garret gt3076 turbo from a garret vendor on ebay that if i over boost it, it will blow up because it a fake Chinese turbo?

 

Del sol seats sit the lowest as previously stated. I have had OEM, integra, and del sol seats in my Civic. Del Sols fit my 6'4" brother pretty well when in my 99 civic coupe. I loved how low they sat.

 

You are the first person to use the key word - authentic. There's nothing wrong with buying verifiably authentic parts from eBay, but consider that some companies won't even consider allowing authorized dealers to sell on eBay, let alone warranteeing parts bought there. For someone like the OP who doesn't know exactly what to look for, the chances of actually buying an authentic, safe part is 50/50.
