Icon6 Coilover suggestions

Hey all I want to order a full coilover suspension for my 93 del Sol Si.
I'm currently running adjustable front upper control arms, rear skunk 2 LCA's, adjustable rear upper arms and adjustable rear toe arms with neuspeed yellow race springs all the way around. The springs will of course be replaced so if anyone wants a set of slightly used Neuspeed yellows lemme know in PM.

Back to the coilovers, I intend to use this car for autocross but it still needs to be driven daily. I am happy with the current drop at least in the front which is 2.5 I believe and 2 in the rear. that would seem to be a good starting place for adjusting. I have about a grand to spend, should I do the usual Koni/GC setup and if so where to order? I've heard good things about these Progress CS:II's but again dunno best place to order. Also, when is it necessary to have top caps and what purpose do they serve?

Thanks for any help in advance

Go with megan street coilovers and run a large rear sway bar. You'll really like the performance out of them. They surprised me.

You mean the EZ street ones?
what kind of sway bar do you mean, stock replacement like this?http://www.ebay.com/itm/Progress-REAR-Non-Adjustable-Anti-Roll-Sway-Bar-22mm-93-97-Del-Sol-62-1003-/110990157429?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d7876675&vxp=mtr

No the actual street coilovers. The ez ones are for the street only, the megan streets can be adjusted for the track and easily adjusted for the steer. The spring rate is 12k front and 6 k rear. I run them on my club racing car but I (customized) them a bit to further their potential, however a great and sturdy set of coilovers. And i run a 24mm asr rear sway bar since you'll be auto crossing. You'll get a good amount of rotation out of that set up. I run a 32mm asr hallow bar and do not recommend that for the road

Btw that is a good sway bar. You should also buy a backing plate for anything that's 22mm or higher because of the risk for tear out

Those are the ones! People are shocked when I tell them I run with those coilovers, but my car is very competitive and wins. However, I do run a rear asr subframe brace because at 32mm you have to there's no way around it. If you wanna buy the whole kit, hop on asr's website and you'll see your options. On my STL car it's a 2000 civic si coupe and I run NO front sway bar because my rates in the front are 12kg and I run a huge rear bar for rotation. I have found that set up to be very successful on the track. My race car does not autocross tho. But, if you want that street use and autocross use at the same time, you have to go easy on some components

Im currently still running stock Fat 5's and 185/65/14 I believe they are.
What would be the impact of running a 32mm hallow bar for daily driving?

Tein FLEX's are like 2 g's aren't they?

Also, what's the deal with top hats? Is that just another word for an adjustable top braket aka camber plate?

I would stick to asr and progressive. Godspeed is junk. But anyways a 32mm sway bar on the street will promote some serious oversteer and you don't want that on the street, plus it would be rough as a *****. Your car will whoop your ***. Also you gotta run some sticky tires with a 32mm because it will increase your spring rate at your wheel and your traction on regular street tires will suck. Btw get some camber plates too, front and rear. The coilovers will give you plenty of lowering capability

You have to run a some good tires the higher the spring rate.i recommend Hoosier a6 or bfg rs 1 for the track. Set them at 2.5- camber front 2- rear and tune from there

I'd honestly put money into tires vs subframe braces and upgraded sway bars. I suggest 225's coupled with a semi sticky compound.

Agreed tires are expensive. I was gonna say 22mm is you need for beginner autocross. ASR is a arm and a leg

What is stock? 22mm? If I put 225's on there I will need new wheels too obviously... I think that will cost a little more than a 400 asr brace a sway combo. plus wouldn't I need longer wheel studs?

I already have front and rear upper adjustable control arms, however with as low as my car is now i can only get -4 out of the front. some coilover sets come with the top plate that you can adjust, it that what you mean? All I know is I have tons of body roll and a rear sub frame brace and thicker sway bar is a must and might as well put a lower tie bar on there too.

Still stuck on which coilover kit to order. Will I be happy with the ride comfort of the Progress CS:II's? Although I don't think they have adjustable dampers.
Megan racing street ones I found for 829 cheapest anywhere else I should check?

Good price on the coilovers I'd take that, I believe that is stock, but if your trying to save money find something big but as long as it's not Godspeed you'll be ok. Run -2.5 degrees camber and -2rear camber. I have done k sports before and I've never been a fan. I really recommend the Megan's you'll be happy
