Hi all I'm looking at a new motor. From the pictures I noticed I don't recognize this sensor, if thats what it even is. I tried to google it and all i could find is some engines came with it and some didn't. can anyone enlighten me on what it is and why my current motor don't have it? Located between the vtec solenoid and maf sensor. Sorry for my ignorance!!!

 

that is the EGR valve. not really a sensor i guess.

it was my understanding that the Y8 didn't have an EGR but the Y5 (HX) did. you may have a Y5 manifold, or even the whole top end. I believe the valve train looked different so if you took the cover off and posted a picture someone could confirm what it is you have.

 

Wow thanks for the info this is the picture I got from the guy selling motor. its supposedly a d16y8 out of a 98 civic ex to replace the one in mine. sounds like a should stay away from it.
