How hard to swap my modified z6 in place of my y8?
As hard as removing one engine and replacing it with a nearly identical engine. Is it modified so much that it will prohibit installing it? What exactly are you worried about?
What is your problem? Are people not allowed to ask questions. I am trying to figure out if I can do The swap myself it has Apr stud bolts dart sleeves 450cc injectors and edelbrock performance x intake and I got it with a car I just got.
If you are referring to me I've been told I come off as an A$$ but please don't read into it that much. I answered your question followed up with my own question(s) so as to understand why you are asking in the first place. As stated, they are nearly identical (externally speaking) so swapping one for the other is only as difficult as you make it. Nothing you have listed for mods would make it anymore difficult to install than any other stock engine.
I wasn't talking about you lol it just seems so hard to ge help on here. So would the parts I have listed. Would you think that sounds like a turbo set up or no turbo

The guy told me on that head I could boost 30 lbs but that sounds dumb to me. Seems like way to much boost but Iv never boosted or had anything this modded
Sounds like a turbo set up but could go either way. I guess it'd come down to the actual head work and piston choice. But if he's talking about boost then that combined with sleeves and that big of an injector I'd say it's a safe bet that it's set up for boost. Any chance he mentioned what the compression ratio is (or which pistons are in it)?
Anyways, none of those things will stop you from installing it into your car. Getting it to run may be a different story though.

No he didn't say anything about pistons or compression. If there was a way I could send you pics I would show it to you. What problems would I run into trying to get it to run. Bigger fuel pump and tuned ecu? Or more than that?
What don't you understand about how vague your question is? How could we possibly know what is hard for you? Put more effort into asking specific technical questions and do a little homework.
Do you have a service manual for your car and engine? If not, get one.

The same engine can make 300hp on 6psi from a huge turbo, and 300hp on 30psi from a tiny one. The strain on the engine will be the same from either, the strain from producing 300hp. Boost pressure is meaningless on it's own.
[QUOTE=TunerN00b;49360403]Anyone who talks about how much boost an engine can take, is someone to never take any advice from.

Ya the guy didn't seem to trustyworthy and I didn't know what I was looking at..all I knew was he said turbo and I needed it

if trying to ever pass emissions u will have to run a crank sensor swapping the oil pump/oil pick up and pan or do the cfk trick to tick the ecu to pass emissions running a obd2 computer...running a p2e is easier because the z6 does not have a knock sensor. but the swap is basic. u can get a distributor conversion harness or use your y8 dizzy but only the top bolt will line up unless modified. also u will have to swap your alternator for it to plug into your harness....u CANT use the z6 harness reuse your y8 harness and get a step down harness to run a chipped p28
FYI "RonJ@HT" is extremely knowledgable and is absolutely correct in that you should have the service manual. Your question is vague which is why I sort of had a vague response with follow up questions.
As for getting it to run, it would be mainly about tuning (unless the guy used a stockish volume piston). It would be helpful to know the compression ratio so you could determine whether you even require a tune or if you can get away with a stock ecu and injectors. This is an area that is beyond my personal experience so I'll stop there.

Ronj@ht may be knolegable but he didn't trying helping me to understand so I'm over that. a vague answer is better than no answer so thank you guys and I tried to get ahold the guy I got the head from and I havemt heard anything back so I think I might run the z6 head to the shop in town and see if they can diagnose what the pistons are and what compression should be. Any idea what a head like this would be worth with the parts that I know are in it I seen the intake alone for almost 300 so I don't know. I really rather through a B motor in my car rather than messing with all this turbo stuff
lol so you bought a supposed darton sleeved d16 with no turbo....lol seems legit, hate to tell you OP i'm 90% sure that thing is bone stock. and that even if it's sleeved and running 9:1 pistons it will be **** in N/A form and I could walk you with a healthy d16y7. sell the turbo stuf you've already got burnt try and cut your losses. assuming the head does even have some upgraded spring retainers you may get 200$ but if stock 80$. to answer your question op only way you'll know is by pulling the head and looking at the piston top for any ID markings a simple compression test isn't the way to determine it may have to remove the piston it's self if nothing sold can be found on the dome.
not trying to be a dick, just telling you the truth of the matter.
