Default Problem with B20 VTEC!!! Please Help!!!

Hi

I just got done with building my B20 VTEC with stock B20 block and stock B16 head. Running a apexi powerfc with basemap for b16.

the problem is, the car is consistantly showing only 115whp at around 5500 rpm on the dyno and power going down after that all the way up to 8000rpm. vtec is set at 4800 rpm and turning on. anyone got any idea why its happening and how to solve it?

i am thinking the engine not getting enough air...i read here that i should use adjustable cam pulleys as on a lsvtec or b20vtec the timing is ALWAYS slightly off. can it be that due to improper timing the valves opening/closing before or after they are supposed to and thats why the engine is starving of air?

i know the powerfc needs to be extensively tuned...but before the tuning, even on the base b16 map, i should be getting power all the way up to 7500-8000rpm, right? then the tuning will squeeze the last drops of power...

its not because of the air , its rather the tune your running it with
you simply cannot run a b20vtec with a b16 map
the engine will run way too lean and the ignition timing is also incorrect.
shortly said you will need a tune for this kind of setup.
stop running the car on this map or you will have some serious damage.

highest i could squeeze out is 123.7whp after advancing the intake came by 10 degrees. this leads me to believe that the engine is starving from air. any thoughts why? anyone?

Aaron already gave you the answer.
Youre running a 2 liter engine with the fuel requirments of a 1.6 liter engine.

You saw the gain in horsepower because you shifted your powerband by changing your cam timing (I think)

Give that thing some damn fuel!
