Ive got a 99 DX-V, now that its cold out ive noticed a strange heat issue I cant find info about. The blend door works fine and so does the blower. Ive climbed under the dash and watched the mode selector run and it looked like all the switches/ linkages worked on it. here are my problems
1) when on face drivers vent blows nice hot air, middle vents blow warm air and pass vent blows ice cold. (less noticeable if on recirculation but still colder)
2) same applies to feet and face, face vents still cold except for drivers. (dont know if pass foot is hot but drivers is)
3) side vents on no matter what position the control **** is in. is this normal?

The defroster will blow hot air if I turn the ac off. the car is stock and does not overheat/ take a long time to get up to temp. Thermostat was replaced 4,000k ago in june. So what should my next steps be to fix this? I would like to not have to pull the dash out and if I do it wont be until its warmer.

 

Is the car fully warmed up? When doing all of these tests?
1. Does the passenger vent stays cold all the time? How long have you ran it, Of course if you don't recirculate than you're pulling cold air from the outside, and the outside air comes in through the passenger side.

Yes car is fully warmed up when I do these test. I figured that when recirculating thats why it warmer, figured id throw that in there. If i drive the car it takes maybe 5-8 min to get up to 180F and will still never blow hot out of the pass side of center vents. Glad to hear the side vents are normal.

 

maybe a vent isn't connected somewhere. You might have to trace that down.

 

If they weren't connected how would they still blow air? I did replace my srs control unit back in the summer but im sure i didnt knock anything off in there

 

update. the pass floor vent does blow hot air

 

Hey,

Make sure you check both linkages. At least the 98 EX has the electric motors on thr driver side near the gas pedal this for air direction.

Then you should have under the hvac the linkages for temperature which are manual. Check both and see what you come up to.

Please rembember that anything that falls in there might bring some trouble. It happened to me with a pen. I started hitting below and coukd hear something loose. I made a hole in the HVAC to take it out, much easier than dissasembling it

In case you have something you can do so and thean seal it with autoadeshive thermal material for cealings.
