With the head off the car I use one similar to this.

Here is a fairly cheap one that should work; http://www.cylinderheadsupply.com/kl2075.html
Using a hammer and a deep socket may work to remove the valve stem locks. However, that method is not so helpful when putting everything back together.

That tool looks shitty I found the best tool to use is the Listle 36200. Its basically a copy of the Snap On Bluepoint part # GA317 tool.
Its the best, you wouldn't want to use any other and at only 30 dollars its well worth it.

Here is a demonstration of the tool:

if you got an autozone around you the rent a tool valve compressor works good. can be had for 25 bucks and works very well. when your done take it back and get your money back.
Just me and I'm sure I'm missing something....If I'm send a head to a machine shop to be checked out......they get it with everything installed so they can test/seat what is needed.
