Default No Vtec engagement when front wheels are off ground?

Really confused here.

93 Del Sol SIR JDM

1. My vtec does not work properly in the first place, when driving and I get to VTEC, there is only noise, no pull. I still need to figure out what my problem is. (No codes / still need to check some facts from the VTEC not working thread)
2. Question is why would it not engage / make noise AT ALL, if my two front wheels were off the ground? (Engine warmed up etcetc) (Cars in garage atm, front end jacked up)

Anyone can explain? Possible reason?

No i dont expect the car to go into rocket mode, but there is NO difference in pull once vtec engages.
Its odd that i have noise if the car is on ground actually moving. But once on jack stands nothing happens.

And yes its a B16A second generation

Maybe because only one of my wheels spin?

Describe exactly what it is you are doing once on jackstands. IMO, thats a pretty moronic way of determining whether vtec is activating or not. There are simple tests you can perform to see if its working correctly.

Pribably because theres no resistance. U are running below certain load vtec wont engage

Whats the need when he says he can hear it when he's driving?

All OP needs to do, is this....http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Tests+to+tell+if+vtec+is+working

If it is indeed working correctly and op still feels as if there is something holding the car back, then there is an issue elsewhere.

This is not to determine if vtec works or not, my car is in the garage for winter for yearly touch ups, and i noticed this issue.

Front of car is jacked up.
(Ebrake is on. Could ebrake be the issue telling the car not to hit vtec?)
My hood and front bumper are off the car. Nothing is messed with.
I do have automatic start on the car, and the hood needs to be closed for it to work properly. (there is a button that knows if the hood is open / closed )

Turn key, start car, wait till temperature is mid (when normal driving vtec will engage at 1/4 temperature)

After car is warm, i put it into first gear > gas /clutch > 2nd > 3rd > 4th > (60-100K on tach. Hit it up past 5500. (6000-8000 rpm) no noise change.

I have an aftermarket exhaust.

Only my left side wheel spins, right stays still.

Let me clear this up.

Question is.

Why would vtec not work when front wheels are off ground.

(ebrake is on as mentioned in first quote wich I now think is the issue)

yes because theres no LSD

vtec engages when following conditions are met

when rpm gets to certain point
when theres enough oil pressure
when the engine load reaches certain point

with wheels off the ground theres no load on the engine

x2

when the wheel are off the ground the load become very light and the motor will rev like it got 1000+hp therefore reving faster so when the VTEC crossover engage it will be smooth to the point of not noticing it.
