warm engine low rpm misfire 2000 honda accord
Started a new thread for this car.
Bought with blown head gasket did timing belt + water pump with the gasket. Compression is about 150 psi across the motor. No oil in water no water in oil no residue on radiator cap. Timing marks top to bottom match up.
Car would not start before replaced distributor with new one from Amazon. Now in current situation. Cold car starts easily and idle's once warmed up has multiple cylinder random misfire tach doesn't move at all or jumps.
Where would you start trouble shooting?

Did a compression test tonight checked the plugs and plug wires and plug wire positioning. Checked TDC #1, checked timing marks.
Everything is fine. Did research on Honda Tech and decided the aftermarket distributor is either bad or wrong part. I put back on my old dizzy, the one that the car would not start without starting fluid back on and it fired right up. The tach works with the old distributor but is jumpy.
I'm going to drive it around my neighborhood tomorrow (not farther that I would like to push it home from) and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply, no machine work done. I checked the head with feeler and straight edge. It is straight.
I have not worked on it again. The tach issue makes me lean toward a electrical issue more than a compression issue. The car starts and runs. I need to see if I can get it to drive around the block without overheating. I just have not had time to try due to other car projects and work.

I'm still curious what the compression was BEFORE you replaced the head gasket.
Tach issues tend to point to the ignitor being bad. Replace that with one from the junkyard and see if that fixes your issue.

I didn't bother testing because coolant and oil had mixed, car got hot enought to melt the plug wires to the tops of the spark plugs. It would crank but no chance of it starting.
