Default low compression test #'s, no start

Just got a used b18a1. Went to start it, no go. So I did a compression test and it came out 90-180-120-90. Put a cap of oil and the numbers went down but the 180 went up by 10.

Fuel is good, new plugs, wires, cap/rotor. What should I do here? Rering? headgasket?

before you pulled the head you should have checked the valve lash adjustment. it's very possible that was way out of spec. that should always be the first thing you check, especially when there is valve leakage like that.

stick a flashlight in the exhaust ports and intake ports while in a dark room, then look at the valves for that port and look to see if you can see any light around the edge of the valves. if you see light: the valve is bent. if there is no light visible at all, it probably isn't bent and the lash was probably just off.

either way, just be sure you clean the cyls out very well before putting it back together with a new HG

I actually did do a valve lash before i tore it down.

but anyways it started!!!!!!!!

The dist was wired wrong and the gas was bad. The cars been sitting for months. I rewired the dizzy since i converted from obd 0 to obd 1. Watched a cool sparking show on my valve cover then spray starting fluid into the t/b and bam. sounded like a harley

edi: I also lapped the exhaust valves on cyl 1 and 4 and cleaned off a bunch of carbon and put it back together with same bolts and hg.
