ARP Y8 Head studs too short. Info?
Alright, I just got my ARP head studs in today, and their too short!!!
I am mating my D15B block, to a D16Y8 head. Everywhere I had read said to get Y8 ARP head studs.
I'm gonna start off by saying WRONG. After I threaded them all the way down into my block, I slapped the head on for a test fit and ALL the studs were too short (Absolutely ruined my day), the tops of each stud were right at where the bolts would sit flush. Even the back right corner (Oppisite of the VTEC Solenoid), which is about 1/4-1/2" lower, was barely long enough to put the washer and thread the nut on. (Not saying it wasn't safely theaded on, there was just little left.)
So now I'm sitting here with 9 ARP headstuds, waiting for ARP to return my call, and i'm curious, has anyone else ran into this problem? If so what head studs did you use? I've searched for the majority of 2 hours now and have only came up with people using the Z6 head, or a different block which doesn't answer my question fully.
I am really confused as to why people say to use the ARP head studs that match the head if the ones that match the head are too short... Any response is welcome and thanks guys for the help/info again.

I thought studs matched the block? But whatever, I have a matching block and head so I've never looked into it. You threaded the studs hand tight to the block, right? The head sits flush with the block and you have 0 threads sticking out? You can't thread the bolt to the stud at all? Maybe ARP did mess something up, but I've never had issues with them.
Yeah I am. After I threw the head on I went on ARP's website and the product numbers matched up D16Y ARP Head studs. That's what I said too but nope they're legitimately too short, all but that back corner! It's wierd.. And yeah after I cleaned the threads I hand tightened them in, aaaannndd too short:/ Maybe I need to get studs to match the block.. When I pulled my D15 head off the back left corner was higher then all the rest, but the block threaded exactly the same (You guys know what I mean I hope haha)
It's just confusing.

Yes and yes. And jdmjunkieXL it's too dark here now for me to take a pic I'll have to take one tomorrow to show ya. And that's why I contacted ARP themselves, I'm sure they can work somethin out with me.

Well, have you measured the studs?

That was just something I pulled up. You may have ordered the wrong studs some how, despite the label. This guy used VW studs in his.

yes they dont have the correct length. i too had this issue years back when i did this. your not out of your mind or miss ordered.
arp will not be able to help you further, other then to tell you that the items you have is correct.
the guy who measured these missed the one in the back.
it should have been a different length but it would have been more work for arp to change out that size.
