A friends Honda Fit has had the light on, I checked the tire pressure on each corner expecting them to read around 28-32psi. Instead I found:
(Drivers F) Corner 1: 39psi
(Drivers R) Corner 2: 31psi
(Pass. F) Corner 3: 48psi
(Pass. R) Corner 4: 32psi
Factory sticker on door Jam read that all tires should be set at 33psi
Not a damn one matched.. took the car to the gas station, got them all to 32-33 psi
drove the car home and the TPMS light is still on
Question(s). Could the over inflation damage the TPMS sensor? Does an over inflated tire pressure cause the sensor to trip the light to come on? I was expecting to see the pressure to be low and always thought the sensor would come on ONLY if it went lower than what ever threashold is set for the sensor...
TIA!!!!

usually in my exp with honda if tires are aired to proper level and driven for proper amount if time per owners manual (25mph for 5 mins i THINK) and the light does not reset the sensor is bad. most likely a battery failure
Normally the sensor only triggers if pressure is very low.... I'd have a shop try resetting the system (rescanning the sensor ID codes), and if they cannot clear the light then you must have a bad sensor
On the CR-V, 2008, the TPMS light came on, right after the weather in Houston turned cold. Parked it for a week...light still on. Reviewed site that said it had to be dealer reset and sensor may be bad. Just replaced one sensor about 2 months ago...after tire change. On my way to dealership today. The light went out by itself. Took it to Discount Tire to check pressure. Tires needed air, pressure was about 29psi and tech raised it to 35 all around. I will see if the light comes back on...If it does, will re-post.
