Okay last Tuesday as i was getting ready to leave work. i went to start the car up and it did. i was letting it idle cause it was a pretty cold day and i wanted it to warm up so i could use the heater. as i was sitting there my RPMs jumped a little then they dropped and the car stalled. so i got it towed home. first thing i did was check my battery and it was good i had 12.8 volts. checked for spark with a plug tester and got no spark. i had everything for a distributor rebuild. New cap and rotor, new coil and new ICM. i rebuilt the distributor hoping that it would run when i installed it. nope still no luck. i checked my fuel pump fuse, it was good. replaced the transmission side ground and the radiator side ground, still no spark. the car does turn over so i know its not the starter. the car had been running fine never gave me any problems. i didnt have any CEL's and never got one once it wouldnt turn on. if anyone has any advice or things i can try please give me a hand. i would be in your debt.

Edit: i also open up the main relay to check the solder every thing looked good there. also i removed the gas cap and had some on try and turn the car on. while i listened for the fuel pump to prime and it did. is there any way to test the ECU to make sure that its working with out having to tow it somewhere?

 

tested all your distributor parts? i had a couple icms go bad right out of the box.

Erratic movement of the tach is a sign of a bad ICM, I would check for spark, [using an HEI spark tester]. 94
