00 Ek gsr swap No high idle at cold start? Iacv, Ecu
Hey there, I have ek with a 96 obd1 gsr, chipped p72, is not starting right. When its cold, I start it, there is no idle raise, it just starts right 600 rpm or lower when cold almost/and dying and also the cooling fan is not coming on. I reset the ecu, unplugged and plugged sensors. And it started working again. But then 2 days later its doing the same the thing and when I reset the ecu, no luck. Its a 96 so no FITV. Am I missing somthing here. Im wondering, a thermostat couldnt cause these symptoms could it. Getting power to the iacv and temp switch and all fuses are good. Any ideas much appreciated.
I've got a ls/vtec, 99 gsr head with the throttle body that doesn't have the FITV and running a obd1 p28 ecu. Cleaned the iacv, coolant is topped off, hard cold starts, idles rough and very low too. Wondering if since we are running a obd1 ecu along with a obd2 throttle which lacks the FITV that MAYBE we need a obd1 throttle body with FITV in order to to compliment the obd1 ecu at cold start? My engine runs rougher when outside temp is colder.
Needs to be Tuned. take it to a dyno....that engine doesnt belong in that car, plus its a lsv set up to top it off....it needs a tune asap if it has no check engine....what size piping are you running????

I'm NOT trying to thread jack, just seen someone with a similar problem decided to share an idea. I plan to go have it tuned on a dyno, just wanted to sort the "bugs out first" you may say the ls/vtec doesn't belong in my 98 civic, but I got it in a trade for my d16y7 and $200 cash. It came with a cracked header, which I planned to have replaced this weekend but exhaust shop was closed, but it's mated to the stock civic exhaust til the exhaust shop opens on Monday.
LSvtec will need a dyno tune, it wont run right with out one, and you will need to upgrade your piping to 2.25, or you will stress your engine.,,,

Oh I know it needs a tune, and yes I was planning on 2 1/4" piping. Just trying to figure out this cold starting trouble before I do the piping and tune.
that motor doesnt need a tune, its your fitv, just get a lsv chip off of ebay, its very popular so im sure a basemap chip should be pretty easy. and the stock exhaust wont hurt the motor. get a obd1 throttle body.
So then what I was assuming was right? Go with a obd1 TB, with the FITV and it should take care of that problem? That's good news! I've been looking for one.
really you would trust a chip off ebay? lol, thats bad bro...a dyno isnt expensive at all...and you dialing in your car to where it needs to be not where some random chip says
I've got a gsr base map on my p28 ecu but, but the previous owner got rid of the IABS and I got another stock gsr manifold with them, so I've been looking a stock p72 ecu, then wanna get a tune.
