Default Honda B18b block with B16 vtec head problem!

hi, friend got himself a new car, is a Frankenstein conversion on a b18b3 block with a b16b6(i think) vtec head. there is a problem though with the vtec solinoid so we bypassed it to try figure out why its only running to 6500 rpm and vtec not engaging like it should. so we got vtec to work on a switch(just for now to test) but the car is limiting at 6700, could it be that the seller lied and its a b18b3 ecu(because his other civic hatchbacks ecu is completely different and its a original and stock b16 vtec) or a vtec ecu with a problem? or something else?

Any coments welcome

I'm assuming a B18B3 is non-vtec. You're having problems getting vtec to engage because you're running the wrong ECU, which is also probably why it's hitting a low rev limit. Get the proper ECU then try again. Your CEL should be on. Pull the codes.

Sounds like you're running a non-vtec ECU. Get the proper ECU and it should alleviate those problems...check out/ contact Xenocron, Phearable, J-K tuning, etc and they should be able to hook you up

Car needs tuned. There is no ecu that will work because it's a Hybrid motor. Take it to a tuner and ask what they recommend

false.. any vtec ecu will work but to get optimum horsepower you would want to get it tuned
