Default Information on a D16A6

Hello guys, I'm new to imports and i have a few questions. I recently purchased a civic si. It has a full exhaust, intake, air intake, upgraded injectors/wires, and head work. What oil do you guys recommend? Oil filter? The previous owner used a conventional 10W40 with a specific filter for fitment issues. Car has about 148k miles.

Also other information about the motor, 1/4mile, dyno stock, would be appreciated too.

Thanks
-Mike

No one can tell you specifics about YOUR engine. If you are sincerely interested you need to go run the 1/4 mile, go have it dyno'd, etc.

Also, please read the rules and FAQ. Your questions regarding performance fall under bench racing.

As for the oil, I don't see any reason why you would need anything special. I personally use Castrol and a standard fram PH3593A filter. You mention there is a fitment issue, what might that be? Do you know what the head "work" consisted of and why the injectors are upgraded?

Yeah, that motor seems fishy to me. Also, no one can give you 1/4 mile times for your car. You can google it in stock form. Anyways. Just go with basic oil. Read your owner's manual. It will give you oil ranges for the temperatures you fall under based on your area.

5/30 is the recommended oil weight. Most wear occurs at start up, thicker oil may reduce oil blow by and oil burning but will shorten engine life. Motor oil is all about as thick as water when the engine is warmed up / hot.

I've noticed the oil stays noticeably cleaner longer using OEM filters - anyone else?

I've never noticed a difference, but I've also never pushed the motor long enough to where there would be a noticeable difference. I change my motor oil all too often most likely.

Anyways, definitely check the owners manual for the oil weight. 10w30 is pretty solid as far as universal oil would be concerned.
