Default Civic Si motor into Civic Dx

I bought my 90 DX hatch in September and it is slow, but it was a one owner car and the body is mint. My buddie and I bought a CRX si for $200. The motor is shot, but I was able to get the rims, seats, gauge cluster, tranny, axles, ecu, brand new clutch, and all parts for rear wheel disc swap. Now all I really need is the motor and I pretty much have an Si. I want to do a swap over the winter but I am not sure what I would be getting myself into. I was just wondering how much work really is involved in it, and how hard on a scale of 1 to 10 it is. I would also like to know where I could get a good motor in Minnesota.

Just convert to MPFI and get the resistor box off that Si and you should be fine I think.

If I were you I would just stick with the D15, add the Si head and dizzy (mpfi) ECU, and use the Si tranny. Big difference over stock.

i agree, no need to swap the entire motor, the gain from 1.5L to 1.6L is not noticable. what is noticable is the mpfi swap, si cam, si tranny. i personally wouldnt swap the head though.

Same as above ridden in a friends stock si and a friends stock dx and to me the dx pulls harder. Plus the si tranny on a dx would be fun.

I might try the mpfi conversion , but the head of the motor is the only thing bad on it and I already sold the resister box. Changing to MPFI may be a posibility, but I will need the directions if anybody has advice.

It's way easier to swap the entire head than swapping a cam.

get the distributor off the motor if possible..

here is what me and JOSHWHE used: http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/4g...-zc-wiring.htm

good luck and drink lots of beer..

and make sure you clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and head.. or coolant/vacuum leak gods will punish your ****.

and when your workin on it.. and somebody honks the horn.. don't hit your head on the bonnet

wow, how did you get a crx si for $200 ?
btw, off topic, but why would you choose a ZC as a swap? is the different comparable
to b16?

The ZC is a cheap alternative swap and can produce decent power if properly worked. But if you want some serious power I'd suggest a B16 swap. My room mate has a B16 in a CRX DX and kills me all the time with very few mods.
