Need Help Getting my Integra Bar'd
Hello so the time has come to say goodbye to my b18b1 and going b18c
ok so heres the deal my brother got a 94 gsr block about 5 years ago which is in need of a rebuild not sure what it needs because it was given to him by a friend as a gift and doesnt really remember what it needs... he had the intentions to rebuild it and use his JDM P73 but not the reg one but the ones that are .25 oversize having to redo cylinder walls then its all good
, but sadly he had to sell his b16 head and instead got a b20 high comp long block because he needed a new engine fast and didnt have time to spend on his build, so now my integra is almost reaching 200k (190,xxx at the moment) and i need a new engine (need new gaskets and other stuff) so i was going to pick one up a long block from my buddy George AKA Shorsh over at Moshi Moshi Motors, already purchased my tranny from him about 1 1/2 years ago. But my brother said to take his block and pistons just to get a head cuz hes not going to use it and its just sitting there collecting dust, Love my brother
. so i did and have everything ready just need to take block to get it ready, however i wasnt going to get my car bar'd but decided to do it anyways and now i find out that i cant... My car is a '99 and the block is from a '94 so no vin and its older
my question is if there is a way to use it to get it bar'd? if not then can i use a JDM or UKDM block? if so what regulations or stuff do i need? like what kind of paper work will i need for the process to prove blocks mine? thank you for your time

You can't legally swap an older engine in a newer car. Only same year or newer engines are permitted for engine swaps.
Replacement engines are another story though.

That said, he can potentially pass a smog test without it assuming the tech doesn't bother checking things too closely.
"Need" is a loaded term. Provide information and let the OP decide what he should do, and what the ramifications of his decision are if you know them.
^^^ thanx really appreciate it
umm ok so do you know what the process might be with a jdm one or even UKDM? Could get either or if I can't find one same year as car or newer, thanx

For the JDM engines, people have had them pass certification, but I think you'll basically need to convert it to have all expected US equipment, including the ECU. That might pose a minor issue, since the B18C from the SiR runs higher compression.
That's all from memory of reading what others have done. I have never tried to get a JDM engine legally in a US car.

No knowledge on UK engines.

well just to let anyone know that is still wondering a friend of a buddy of mine that does this for a living answer all my questions and yes anything is possible, the engine just has to pass emissions and as for getting a new vin its not necessary, only CHP bitch about it so ill post a final pic when its all done, thanx again

you dont need to bar a integra engine into a integra. . .if your car is an obd2 just use the obd2 harness and make sure you install the crank position sensor.
