My ef sedan says 26 psi for the original 13x5 with 175 70 tires

Did you really search, though?

"Honda Civic HX tire pressure"

First result, this page, where the OP says "...increase my tire pressure to 36 psi from the factory recommendation of 30."

Hell no it doesn't. The number on the side of every tire is the MAXIMUM PSI it's made to hold. Recommended tire pressure depends on the weight of the vehicle, among other factors - there is no "one size fits all" answer for tire manufacturers to just stamp on their tires.

32-35 psi will be good.
Don't go with the sidewall number

...Is this not good enough for you? If you don't believe it, download the factory service manual and check for yourself.

Not good enough? I wouldn't consider your two cents going over and above for me. Just looking to get it from an hx owner. In an attempting to avoid downloading a manual for a car I dont have.

Happy now? Stop acting like an entitled piece of ****. Some of us know what we're talking about. If you're going to come here asking for answers, don't turn around and question those direct answers, especially when they come directly from someone who knows exactly what the **** he is talking about. It's not our "job" to go "over and beyond" for you.

Well don't ask for anything if you don't believe what people say.
Try 100psi or just pump it until the whole tire blows off.

Someone answers the question for you and you are still not happy, what do you want someone to come to your front door with a manual and show you?

You can inflate the tire while it's on the car and under that given load which is why they give you a max inflationary pressure.

Go with what it says on the inside of the door and adjust slightly if necessary.
