Some ******* hit my car - any sources for parts?
Douche bag took off, looked like he was from Mexico, based on partial license plate... Cut through intersection, barely missing getting hit, and couldn't find him... Tore up the rear bumper cover, and rear driver side light, and slightly dented in the panel that goes between the light and the bumper, looks like it may come off...
Anyways, took it to two shops, they each want about $930 clams to fix this!!! Anyways, the car has very low miles, and body looks like the day I bought it.
Anyone have a source for prepainted parts that match factory colors?
Its for a 1998 Honda Civic EX.
Thanks!

I saw on one site where ebay? might be selling prepainted parts? Not sure if this was a rare thing, or if anyone had any reliable sources?

You can get rattle can primer and clear coat too. I've seen some excellent rattle can finishes on entire vehicles and crappy "body shop" finishes as well.

Re: Some ******* hit my car - any sources for parts?
There is a solution between getting a body shop to do everything and using a rattle can.
Last year, I had the 2 bumper covers and a fender to change on my 93 Si. I bought new generic parts for about 100$ and had everything painted by a body shop (while still off the car) for 200$.
I then installed everything myself. They warned me about the color match that could have been off, but I did not care, as it was for my track car. Turns out the color match was actually pretty good (even if they had never seen the car).
BTW, don't look at my avatar picture to judge. That was an old bumper that was rattle-can painted black.

Check craiglist, I bought a certifit bumper for my EG and it fit terrible. I couldn't even get it to line up. Might have just been a bad bumper but I wasn't happy considering I drove an hour and a half to pick it up.

I work at a body shop and we joke about certifit. we say the certa fit. there damn good for the price. It take time to make everything fit right. Ive seen OEM parts fit worse than certifit stuff

I may try the ebay special - pre painted. Its a 15 year old car. Still in great condition (93K miles), but it is 15 years old... Don't want to throw good money after bad. I thought about why spend $500+ for a vehicle maybe worth $2500?

www.car-part.com is the source for all parts. Pricing online is pretty damn good. Most places are willing to ship as well.

Pre-painted? Eh.
I went with certa-fit when I wrecked my car, and I regret it every time i look at it.
But, it's your car. I can't tell you what to do. What color is it?

They parts look just like the old ones, but it's not difficult to tell the quality difference.
Nothing lines up correctly, no matter what we did. I even modified the holes on some parts to move them around more. After hours and hours of work, mine and a body shop, just to get it "decent".
Until you look at my lip. OEM lip on certa-fit bumper? Think again. It's WAY off.
Granted this is the front end, but I wouldn't expect a rear bumper to be any better.

Re: Some ******* hit my car - any sources for parts?
Strange, all parts lined up perfectly for me, agreed that lining everything up was a little work, but not that bad. I don't remember if this was certifit or another brand, but at the price I got everything, it was definitely not OEM. Maybe the auto parts place had another brand for which fitment was better?
Was it just for the lip that you got issues? That could explain it. I removed mine after it got destroyed during an off-track excursion and never put one back on.
