97 crv auto shift problem
I am new here and need some advice. I have a 97 crv auto with 198k. problem: when cold it shifts perfect but once warmed up it revs between shifts from 2nd to D to OD. Shifts from 1st to 2nd work fine and down shifts seem to be fine. I have changed fluids in tranny with z1 fluid and tried a different shift solenoid. The next step is to change the thermostat. This car shifted like this when I bought it but it was cheap enough I took a chance. It will shift ok warm if you are not too aggressive on the right pedal. It will run all day in OD and once you allow it to take it's time to shift it shows no slippage. When driven in D it runs fine also. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
The first gens if driven hard to not generate enough pressure for firm instant shifts. there for causing this problem. However, how many miles were on the car when you changed fluid? How did the fluid that came out look/smell? If it was black as oil and didn't smell sort of sweet it may have been burnt or never changed and when you changed it you moved the "sludge" holding it together. Did you go back in with Honda fluid? Honda transaxles are quite finicky and the use of non Honda fluid will cause problems. Did you add the right amount?
