Cold Air Intake... WATERPROOF?
I have an AEM cold air intake on my slammed EF CRX. The filter sits about 3 inches from the ground, and is right in front of my tire. I have already blown one headgasket by forgetting to take it off one night when it was raining. My question is, is there any way to avoid this, and to not have to take my CAI off every time it rains??
I've seen that AEM sells theyr "bypass valve" for their cold air intakes. Are these reliable? Should I trust my rather expensive JDM b16a swap to this 20 dollar piece? Or should I sell the cold air and invest in a whale *****/other short ram intake??
Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

My question to you is, what gains are you actually seeing from having your filter that close to the dirt and heat off the road?
IMO you would be better off to shorten that CAI and filter back up into the engine bay. If you are really that concerned about engine heat, build yourself a heat shield out of a piece of sheet metal or plastic.

It is actually a pretty noticeable gain. The filter sits right behind the cutout where the foglights would go if I had some, so I get direct cold air when I'm in forward motion. I have considered shortening the intake and fabricating a heat shield, so I guess that is what I shall do.
there was a video that i watched, where they tested out filter locations from cold air, to ram air, to the filter out in front of the car, and there were very little gains from that.
