Somebody may have either jumped the wires for the clutch safety in order to install an auto start. Or they have a key cylinder from an automatic car installed in there. Civic key cylinders do have a history of going bad. My EM1 has an automatic car key cylinder in it....installed by the previous owner. I don't like it.

NO IT WONT HURT ANYTHING UNLESS YOU'RE PARKED IN ANY OTHER POSITION BUT NEUTRAL.

In some places, civics come stock without the clutch switch. My car don't have one. Not a big deal but sometimes you may get a jerk from starting the car while its on gear.

Leave the car in neutral when you start it. In my opinion, no clutch starting saves unnecessary wear on the throw out bearing. Then again, the savings may be outweighed by a lawsuit resulting from a careless first gear start thAt runs over a small child.

Please dont use dirty language in tech forums, take that **** to GDD.

and turn off your caps lock, troll.

during cold starts I'd be way more worried about thrust washers on the crank than a replaceable throw out bearing.

Sometimes it's due to a jumped clutch start switch, sometimes it's because of a poorly done auto to manual swap, it's not from the lock cylinder or ignition switch though, the automatic does have some extra wires but they aren't for that and don't do anything when installed in a 5 speed car.
