99 Accord distributor
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and new to Hondas. I have a new son-in-law thus a new car to work on. He has a hard time starting when it is wet out. The car has about 250,000 miles and the original cap and rotor. I was having someone crank it today while I poked around under the hood. There was a visible spark seen in the small raised rib portion of the cap. That doesn't seem normal to me but as I have never worked on anything other than American and British cars I wanted to check here first. Is this some sort of "sight glass" to give a quick verification of normal operation or is it just a small crack (like I suspect). Engine code is F23A4, btw.
Thanks for taking time to read this.

Jesus Christs!
replace that cap, rotor, and wires. Cap and rotor are to be replaced every 15k.
I seriously hope the timing belt was changed as well as periodic oil changes.

I highly doubt it has that many miles on the clock with the original cap and rotor, they would have surly been replaced at some point, but they last far longer than 15K (mines done 77K on the original). Are the spark plugs getting a spark to them?
Number of miles is correct. Odometer does lie. Original parts is an assumption as I have no clue of the history of this car. I just know it's caked with grime under the hood and beat to crap on the outside and in. Just trying to help out my son-in-law since he is down on cash. I'm going to do the cap, rotor, wires and plugs tomorrow (raining today and I'm just not feelin' it, ya know?). holmesnmanny, save the hate for someone else. Got no time in my life for it.
