2000 Honda Civic hood fit
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out on this, as I'm getting conflicting answers from the sellers. I need to replace my hood, and there are two OE hood variations, 60100-S01-A01ZZ for vehicles built in USA/CAN, and 60100-S04-020ZZ for vehicles built in JAP.
My VIN starts with a J, and also the sticker by the driver's door says made in Japan. Based on this it seems I need 60100-S04-020ZZ. I'm in the US, and finding it very difficult to find anything aftermarket for this part, all the hoods aim to replace 60100-S01-A01ZZ. I could buy the original 020ZZ part, but it's quite more expensive than A01ZZ aftermarket
I've been calling the sellers, some say it's okay to have A01ZZ replacement because even though my car was built in Japan it was aimed at the usdm (and left-sided driver), and that 020ZZ is for jdm Civics. Others say that I need 020ZZ because the car was built in Japan and that the hinge holes might be spaced differently and the latch could be different from A01ZZ.
I was wondering if any of you guys have experience with these hoods. Is it worth it to bet on A01ZZ and have a body shop mechanic drill extra holes if needed? Or better to go with 020ZZ original part?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks, jbpnoman. I'm still having some doubts though. I used the search using VIN feature on http://www.hondapartsnow.com , which according to them eliminates fitting issues, and now it shows only 020ZZ part for me. I hope even if the hoods are different it is not significant for the fit purpose.
Every dealership parts catalog I've looked at doesn't even list the 020ZZ hood - they're all the A01ZZ.
Regardless, are you seriously planning on paying for a brand new hood? Why not get one from a junkyard for a quarter the price?

If I decide to go for A01ZZ aftermarket, I'm thinking of buying from Amazon for ~$130 with shipping. Little hassle. Do you think I might easily find an intact A01ZZ on a junk yard for much less? The totaled cars usually have damaged front. Plus, the repaint would be more expensive unless the color is the same (I have Clover color).
It seems my dilemma is not limited to the hood. I need to replace the radiator support as well, and the same problem arises, Japanese-build requires 60400-S04-A02ZZ, and USA/CAN build requires 60400-S01-A02ZZ. Nothing aftermarket for the first, everything for the latter.
Are Civics built in Japan like mine that rare in the US? Now, if I want a perfect fit I'll have to go with the expensive OE once again. Any ideas?

You might be able to get the hood cheaper threw Certi fit. call your local and see if you can get it. I dont think its listed online but I remember seeing in our book at work
