Clutch / Transmission Issues
My 1990 manual transmission Honda CRX, with cable clutch is requiring a ton of force to shift into gear. I have tightened the adjusting nut on the clutch cable, as shown in this diagram.

After doing so, my clutch still feels like there is a lack of tension / loose when pressing it to the floor. And back to my original (and probably related) problem, I cannot shift into First gear with the engine running, and when attempting to shift into reverse, it results in a grinding noise.
It probably should be stated that I can shift (with ease) into any and all gears with my engine off.
Is my problem the clutch cable, clutch pedal, pressure plate, or the clutch itself?
Thank you so much for your help!

This generation is notorious for clutch pedal brackets weakening and breaking under the dash.

In this case I would look at the basics. see if your clutch cable is stretched. Make sure there is proper oil amount in your tranny and new oil if old. Have yet to experience the clutch pedal bracket, take a look (cross fingers). When was the last time you changed your clutch? Flywheel, pressureplate surfaces may be smooth as ice. Throwout bearing is becoming inoperatable from dirt and old dried grease. Pressure plate teeth chipped off? Many factors you know.
Oh yeah, when adjusting your clutch cable, lift up on the cable while adjusting the ****, see if that helps, usually exposes a big gap. But don't tighten it too tight, just snug
