95 Civic d16z6 Low idle, exhaust smells like gas, has trouble starting
I bought this a while back.
Car seemed to run fine.(Just drove it from point a to point b)
It is a second car.
When I started driving it more and more I noticed that the car idles very low, right around 200 RPM's. Then I noticed the more I drive the car the harder it is to start.
For example:
If I drive from my house to the gas station, then to the store. When I get out of the store car will start fine. I go to a friends house for a couple minutes then when I go to start the car, it will crank a couple times then I have to tap the gas for it to start. So I drive it to a go get food and when I get out and go to start it will crank about 3-4 times but won't start unless I give it some gas while cranking. If I keep driving it will take longer and longer to start, then at one point it just won't start until it cools down enough I guess.
Also exhaust smells like gas.
No CEL

Have you modified the engine at all?
Does your CEL work? (what is it... turn the key to III but don't crank, you should see it light up)
I'd check your timing.

it's sensor but i don't know which
i have the same prob. on EG 1.5 90 and all of the mechanichal things are checked
try changing the air temperature sensor

I was doing a compression test on it today. So I got the car to running temp and did the compression test and everything was normal. Except for I couldn't get a spark plug out.
When I went to start the car it wouldn't start, just cranked. So I was thinking I might have switch the spark plug wires around, so I checked but they were right.
So I pulled a spark plug and it was soaked in gas. Got a new spark plug and checked for spark. There was no spark.
This is really odd that the car wouldn't start because normally I have to drive it around for a while at least an hour or more for it to give me problems. (So I am hoping I didnt **** something up on accident) Im going to let it cool down and see if it starts.
So I know now its spark. (hopefully). Can this be a cause of all the problems I am having, low idle, smell of gas, etc.
