00 Civic Si - struggles to accelerate when warm
Hey guys, I just purchased a 2000 civic si. The previous owner ran the car on E numerous times and I guessed it would need a fuel pump but haven't got to that yet and wanted to get some opinions.
When I cold start it up, it's fine and as well as idle. When I drive it after warm up and press on the pedal, the car will randomly begin to struggle to accelerate like pressing the gas pedal and the car slows down BUT if I shut the car off and turn it back on, it goes back to being normal and then does it again momentarily. The car has full power and accelerates fine all the way to redline when I get a chance of it running fine before it acts up again. What do you guys think is the problem? ALSO, CEL is on and haven't gotten to get it checked yet.
Things I did so far:
unplug battery for a day
saw oil under cylinder 4 spark plug

Chances are the CEL is on due to using regular gas maybe. If the previous owner was using cheap regular gas that could be it. Your gonna have to change the o2 sensor and use premium. Not sure till u get the codes tho

Alright appreciate it guys, going to diagnose it today and see what's up. Do you guys think unplugging the o2 sensor and running to car to see if that could be a cause?

Alrighty, something somehow told me to check the o2 sensor before getting it scanned and guess what, a (white) wire from the o2 sensor on the header was cut in two. I put that bitch back together and taped it up and BAM problem solved!!!
Once again, I appreciate all of the feedback guys, that's why this is the number 1 Honda forum!

Did you solder that wire? Or crimp it? Or just tape it? Just taped it, didn't you?
