Default 97 GSR w/ Rod Knock Worth It?

http://allentown.craigslist.org/cto/4126026666.html

Is it worth $3000 to pick up and build the motor for a turbo? Car looks clean as hell, just a rod knock so he says.

i'd say no on that one especially considering cars are cheaper there... not a bad deal if it checks out but i'd definitely talk them down; does look clean as hell on the outside, how about the inside though? Make sure to check everywhere for rust and bring along a friend and talk the guy down as much as possible.

for 3g i'd definitely get a prelude that hasn't been beat to death by now, i think pretty much all integras on the road that have mods on them have been beat to hell, i'd feel more secure in getting a stock one that had maintenance records and then doing the mods yourself. I know i beat the living **** out of my cars and i would certainly have beat that integra's engine to death if i had those mods on it and owned it.

the owner advertises it as a steal but it's really not so that's kind of a red flag to me. I've seen better tegs go for far less around here with turbos on them; i didn't end up buying one because i knew the owners ran them hard.

Looks clean and not chopped up.

Do a car FAxs and check for accidents,
See ifs it's oem pAint. If it's not the cheap paint jobs just don't hold u.

I'd look at it and make an honest assessment of how well it will hold up

Then offer 2600.
It has about 3G in parts alone

Nothing better than a clean Gsr.

It would be better if it was a 98-01

That car is worth right around $3k as it sits. A longblock can be bought for around $1500.

seems legit....I'd do it, b20 bottom end(300) and then you're set.

Thanks for the input, I was thinking hard about it. I could pick it up and afford to fix it within a few months which is no biggy. Would be looking to build motor and trans and turbo it anyway. I have been searching for an eg, ek, teggy, crx, something to build for a little while but nothing seems to catch my eye. Either swapped and they want too much or not swapped and in need of too much body work plus the build. If he still has it in a month or 2 I might offer on it and he won't budge pay the 3000 anyway if nothing better comes along.
