Manual Steering Rack Conversion
Don't get me wrong, I've read lots of guides and have everything ready. (3/8 Nylon tee (all I could find) and a 3/8 hose barb with 1/4 thread on it)... I just couldn't figure out the part about the breather. If I were to say get a res for a power steering pump, it basically needs an off shoot like a coolant res to vent air out (overflow hose?) or does it just need a res that is lidless.
Thanks in advance

Oops meant power in the title. I know the difference... It's just a Freudian slip.
It's in my 98' dc4. I'm just under the impression I can't drill a hole through a res and call it a breather so I don't know if I need to find a certain 'breather reservoir' that would function as a moisture barrier.

I'm confused as to why you need a breather, never heard of it being needed when swapping from a manual to power. but my guess would be to use a T fitting with a breather somewhere on the rubber line(s).
Well most guides I see say that it becomes pressurized if you just loop the input/output which makes sense so it resists a lot more than if you added a breather on the tee (which I purchased) i'm just confused as to what to use for a breather in the loop. It's power steering btw, I'm just removing the pump and whatnot.
ohhh lol well you know a "manual rack" is physically a different item, I just removed the P/S on my gsr, what you do is before you loop it turn the wheels L-R a few times to get excess fluid out. you can do the breather but just easier to get most of the fluid out then loop it.
For anyone wondering the OEM reservoir acts as a 'breather', the lid has holes in different spots that allow pressure to vent. Just took some spare 3/8's hose and hooked the oem res to a tee and now works.
