Hello,
my 92 civic dx seems to flutter and stutter...sometimes stalls. It does this going to work in the morning...but not coming home?? It seems to do it when the headlights and heater blower fan is on. I can hear the engine idle down when the headlights turn on, and idle down just a pinch more with the turning on of the heater fan. Also, with the lights on at idle (when it doesn't flutter), you see them get brighter with a tap of the accelerator peddle, when idle comes up.

If I put into neutral at a light and keep idle RPM's up....everything is fine....I dont mind doing this...but would like to know the problem!!

On the way home...with no lights or heater fan...no issues (even with heater fan on, no issues)

Anyone else experience this?

hows your idle normally, might be too low.

 

It seems fine, as far as I can tell...no tach. But in the afternoon, purrs like a porch cat. But I would gather it could be higher since the lights are "dim" at idle?

 

Have the alternator tested. It may be bad.

Also clean the FITV and IACV.

 

I just looked at write-ups on how to clean both, I will give that a shot...thanks!

 

Also have the alternator tested by AutoZone (free service). Or do it yourself using a multimeter.
