i have a 94 del sol. the driver & passenger door locks function differently.

Passenger door open (ajar,parked); i can lock from inside handle or use key on outside
Passenger door closed ; i can lock from inside handle or use key on outside

Driver side door open (ajar,parked); i CANNOT lock from inside handle or use key on outside
Driver side door closed ; i can lock from inside handle or use key on outside

I've stupidly replaced the latch, no difference. upon close examination of the latch, it seems there is a safety to ensure this functionality.

are you pulling the handle when you go to lock it?

 

no, i'm not pulling the handle. BUT yes.. I can then lock it (handle pulled). this isn't required on the pass door. door can be locked with out pulling handle

Haha is this your first honda? Every honda does this. It's so you don't lock your keys in the car!! You must pull the inside or outside handles before locking it!

 

thanks guys, not only is it my first honda, it's my sons. He was the one who told me it worked before. ha-ha Silly me. shame shame shame and to boot it cost me 70 bucks to find that out
